Christmas Advent Calendar

Okay, it's been a really long time... we adopted this cutie a few months ago so I have been attending to new puppy training and activities!

I've still been crafting - just not posting. Last week I got a Silhouette Cameo. So far, I LOVE it! My first project was this advent calendar. To create this, I used 2 files that I purchased from the Silhouette Store. They create the little boxes with the drawers. The patterned paper I used is from Echo Park - their digital line, Everybody Loves Christmas.

Here is a video explaining what I did to create this:

A yummy treat

This is a crosspost from my new blog! My new blog will feature healthy and delicious recipes that you can easily make for your family! You can find it at:
www.littlepeaceofmyappetite.com

We love granola bars! After all, what's not to like? They're tasty, portable and you can make them with whatever flavors you like. Here is my recipe for granola bars. They have less sugar and fat than traditional recipes but still hold together well and taste good too! The video that follows shows how to make the granola bars and then a fun and quick gift wrapping idea if you want to brighten someone's day with a few bars. :)

Granola Bars

3 c. old fashioned oats
1 c. sliced almonds
1/2 c. ground flax seeds
1/2 c. honey
3 tbls. brown sugar
1-1/2 tbls. unsalted butter
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
1-1/2 tbls. light flavored olive oil or canola oil
1/2 c. dried fruit (I use cranberries, cherries and blueberries but whatever you like will work)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8x13" baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

Toast oats, almonds and flax on a sheet pan for 12-15 minutes, stirring halfway through until lightly browned. Reduce temperature to 300 degrees.

In a microwave safe bowl, combine honey, brown sugar, butter and salt. Heat in microwave until combined (my microwave takes about 2 minutes).

Place the oat mixture in a large bowl and add the honey mixture. Mix until incorporated. Add dried fruit and gently mix again. Pour the granola mixture into the parchment-lined baking pan. Using wet fingers, press firmly into the pan until evenly distributed.

Bake for 25-30 minutes until light, golden brown. Allow to cool for 2-3 hours then cut into 16 bars. Wrap each bar in waxed paper and store in a ziploc bag.

Flaunt It Fridays May 27

This week's challenge is to use any cut from the Robotz cartridge. I don't have that one so I used this cute little guy from Wrap It Up. It's a standing photo holder. The middle - where his body is - pulls out into a mini accordion album to hold some pictures.

In honor of Friday the 13th, we are flaunting the Happy Hauntings cartidge. The challenge is to use the cut that says "Friday the 13th" on page 54. I couldn't bring myself to do a Halloween or spooky project so, I made this card:

For our second project, we could use any cut from the cartridge. I used the 3-D frame cut (without the spiderweb portion on the top) using cereal boxes. Again, it's not spooky or Halloween themed, but here it is:

Now remember, our grand prize this month is sponsored by scrapbuck.com - a $20 gift certificate!! All you have to do to be eligible to win is to enter our challenge - the more challenges you enter, the more chances you will have to win!

Flaunt it Fridays - April 15

This week we are flaunting the fish from Simply Charmed on page 41 (with the shift key pressed) - yes, that would be the dead looking one! I could not figure out what I was going to do with that fish! So I used wiggle eyes so he would look a little more lively and here it is - it says "I'm hooked on you"

Don't forget to stop by the Flaunt It Fridays blog to submit your creation and play along!! :)

This week we are flaunting the sheep from the Country Life cartridge on page 42 of the handbook. I decided to make a card. I added the bow so it would look like a girl. :) Be sure to stop by the Flaunt it Fridays blog to see all the wonderful projects being flaunted this week!

Canvas Gift Tag :)

I made this gift tag using a canvas shipping tag! The tags already come with gesso on both sides so all I did was distress the edges with my distressing tool, apply some pink acrylic paint and glimmer mist. Then my tag was ready for embellishing. I adhered the paper to the tag using gel medium (mod podge works pretty well too). The embellishments are adhered with my usual glue that I use for embellishments - Beacon's 3-in-1 glue. Papers are from Webster's Pages.

Flaunt it Fridays April 1

This week's challenge was to use the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge and flaunt the bird with the mustache and sunglasses on page 36 of the handbook. I had no idea what I was going to do with this cut! The sentiment came to mind before the design of the card. So since I wanted to words to stand out, I decided to print them out on a curve.  :)  Be sure to stop by the Flaunt it Fridays blog to see all the awesome projects for this week and to play along!

Imagine That!

Welcome to the Imagine That Blog Hop! If you arrived here from Nadia's blog, you are in the right place. If not, click HERE to start at the beginning - and trust me, you'll want to! Tons of great projects using the Cricut Imagine are available for your viewing pleasure. The grand prize for the blog hop is TWO awesome sets of stamps - one from Peachy Keen Stamps and one from Scrappy Moms Stamps!! Just leave a comment at each stop in the hop to be entered.

My first project is a card using the Country Carnival Imagine Cartridge. I love how easy it is to put together a card using the Imagine!

For my second project, I made a recipe mini album using the Kate's Kitchen cartridge. The actual book is constructed out of red #10 envelopes and chipboard. I cut all of the patterned paper pieces and images using Kate's Kitchen. The spine is covered with sticky back canvas that I printed on my imagine! I love that I can now create printed fabric that matches my patterned paper!!!

Now, I also have some blog candy for a lucky winner! Just leave a comment below - would love it if you followed me as well... for a chance to win this stamp set. We all need some laughter and happiness in our lives and that is exactly what this set is all about! :) The winner will be announced on Tuesday, March 29.

Thanks for joining us for the hop. Now you're off to Lezlye's awesome blog!

Flaunt It Fridays March 18

It's blog hop week at Flaunt it Fridays! You should have arrived here from Jenny K's blog. If not, click here to start at the beginning. Don't forget about this week's prize - a stamp set from Peachy Keen! To enter, you must leave a comment on the FIF blog and then at every stop on the hop. You won't be disappointed - these ladies all have awesome projects to share with you this week!

The cartridge we are flaunting this week is Birthday Bash. For our first project, we are to use the bunny with the present on page 27 of the handbook. Our other project could use any cut from the cartridge - I used a bunch of them!! :)

Here is my bunny tag. I used the bunny on the front and his present on the back. The present swivels on a brad to hide your note!

My next project is a mini album. The paper collection, I guess, was intended to represent birthday celebrations. But, I thought I would like to celebrate everything in this mini album. The pages are the banners cut from the Birthday Bash cartridge, minus the holes. The title is also cut from the same cartridge. Inside are different banners that read "celebrate life", "celebrate love", and "celebrate family". These small banners are cut from the Country Life cartridge.

Now you are off to Corri's blog. Enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by!
