Flaunt It Fridays Week 5!

The challenge this week was to use the martini glass on the From My Kitchen cartridge. So, I welded the martini glass to a rectangle, making a tag. I cut out a bunch of these tags. They go into a little toilet paper roll mini book and the tags can be used as a recipe book for cocktail recipes! I thought this would make a great hostess gift to take to a New Year's party! =)

Flaunt it Fridays Challenge #4

For this week, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to make a card or a tag... so I ended up doing both! No, I didn't make 2 projects this week - it's a card, tucked into a tag! See, I really like gift tags on presents because they make the package look all pretty. But on the other hand, everyone can see your note to the recipient, which is why sometimes cards are better. So for this project, the little turtle is a card to write a note in. He tucks into an acetate flap on the gift tag that hangs on a present! The top layer of grass is adhered to some acetate so that it will hold the tag in place, but you can still see the turtle behind it.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and I hope you all enjoy your day!! :)

You can see more about how I created this tag by watching the video here:

Flaunt it Fridays challenge #3

This week's challenge was to use the lemon and cup from the Simply Charmed cartridge on page 48. I immediately thought of a lemonade stand and this is what I came up with:

I used an unfinished picture frame and built the stand around the frame opening. To construct the stand, I used sheets of wood veneer that I got from the local wood-working supply store. For more information, please watch my video here:

Flaunt It Fridays Challenge #2

Be sure to stop by the Flaunt It Fridays blog to join in the fun and see all the other awesome projects the designers came up with this week!!

I'm so excited for the second FIF challenge! :) This week's cut is the sleigh on p. 74 of the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I don't have that cartridge so I used the sleigh from Christmas Cheer. When I was thinking about what to make for this week, I pictured a sleigh full of presents. That is how this mini album came to be. Each sleigh page has a pocket to hold the "presents." The presents are actually the tags in the album to put pictures or write notes on.

You can see more detail in my video below:

The very first Flaunt It Fridays challenge is to use the snowman cut on page 29 of the Winter Frolic cartridge. Since this week's challenge was meant as an opportunity to get to know everyone on the Flaunt It Fridays team, I thought I would share this card with all of you!

I was born and raised in Hawaii and have been living on the mainland for the past 4 or so years. So for me, snowmen are not a part of my childhood memories. This is Sunny the Sandman wishing you "Mele Kalikimaka," which means "Merry Christmas" in Hawaiian! All of the cuts are from the Winter Frolic cartridge, except for the coconut tree, which is from Life Is a Beach.

For our Blog Hop projects, we were to use any cut from the Winter Frolic cartridge. I will be the first to admit that I rarely use the tag or card functions on my cartridges. So for this project, I used THREE of them! I used the tag function on these cuts: Ornament2, Cake, and Tree1. For these tags, I cut the tag and the tag shift pieces. I then glittered the cut out area by placing a piece of adhesive behind the cut out area and sprinkling it with glitter. When you adhere the 2 layers of the tag together, you never see the adhesive used for the glitter.

One randomly selected person who is a follower and comments on this post will win the Sunny the Sandman card and the set of tags so please leave a way to contact you!

Now you're off to visit Raven's Blog for the last stop on the hop. Don't forget that after you check out Raven's projects, to go back to the Flaunt It Fridays blog to let then know that you've visited and commented at every stop on the hop.

Thanks for joining us and I can't wait to Flaunt It with you again next Friday! :)

Modified Paper Bag Albums

When assembling a paper bag album, that thick little piece where the bottoms of the bags meet really bugs me! :) Here is one way to avoid joining sections of the bags to each other - it really maximizes the surface area of the album.

Embellished Frame Project

I made this frame as a gift. It started as an unfinished wood frame from Michaels. I painted it, cut the words out with my Cricut, and embellished the frame. I will put a picture in the frame and send it off. :)
